Eventually, with the exception of Jack and few other scientists who helped Naval In the fight, all humans are expelled from Pandora. Philosophical essay: The question does death define us? must be clarified and explained before arguing the question itself. The term define means to find either unique properties which can separate this object from every other object or combination of properties that make the object unique. For example, when we define a square, we say a square is a shape that has four equal sides and four right angles. Those are defining properties of square because no other shapes have the same combination of properties; and this combination makes the square unique and distinguishable from any other shape. However, If there are only four equal sides or only four right angles, they cannot define a square since they are only part of the combination. Thus when we define something, we mean to find out all of the distinguishing characteristics one object has and separate these properties from any other objects; or to find a unique property which is enough to make an object distinguishable. Secondly, the word us has three potential definitions: individual human being, human beings as a whole, and all living things including human beings, animals, plants, bacteria and etc. It cannot include non-living things because it doesnt make any sense to associate death with non-living things since they cannot die. Thus us has to refer to living things at least, whether Its general or specific. For the first definition of us, which Is Individual human being, death cannot define us because It cannot separate or dullnesss one Individual from another, which Is clearly against the meaning of define, on the basis that every Individual Is different. If everyone is not, then does it mean that everyone suppose to act, think But in reality, thats not the case. Consider Colonel Miles Charity and pilot Trudy Coachà ¶n, they are different in gender, in beliefs and in who they supported although they all die eventually. Can one say they are same persons based on their similarity death, regardless of the differences listed above? Unlikely, otherwise they will act, think in same way and they wouldnt support different groups of people. Thus, every individual has to be different in one way or another, which makes differences exist. Because death is universal to everyone, it is not a defining characteristic of an individual based on the definition of define; in other words, death cannot de fine The second definition of us is human beings in general human beings, where the question becomes: does death distinguish human beings from other species?By similar reasoning, the answer is no here, since all living species on earth are mortal, and death is only one ultimate ending to all living things; death, therefore, cannot extinguish human beings from all other living species. Theres definite a distinction between human beings and other living species such as animals and plants, but death is not the one. Back to my non-philosophy source, the Nava clan leader Tutees and Colonel Miles Charity both died at the end, but is the death that distinguishes those two species? Not really because Tsetse is alien, he can live in the environment of Pandora; whereas Colonel Miles Charity cannot without his oxygen mask. By the definition of define, this is a difference between human beings and Nava, a unique laity which can independently define or distinguish human beings from Nava. Since death does not include this unique quality, it cannot define us in this case. The third potential definition of us could be all living things, including human beings, animals, plants, bacteria, and basically any life form that exists. And in this situation, death can be the unique distinction between living species and non-living things. However, that is the case only if all living things are mortal. What if the technology is advanced enough so that no one could die? Scientists already found hat the reason we get ol der is because the chromosomes at the end of cell gets shorter every time when it duplicates. If we can manually keep the length of chromosomes, we are expected to live much longer and eventually, live infinitely long.Although it seems weird, it is possible. And death will no longer exist if the above is true. Thus death will no longer be able to define us since the concept, death, may not exist. The problem of infinity where everyone will be exactly the same since they will all have same experience does not exist here under the definition of us, cause us is defined as all living things here, whether they are the same or not; as long as they can live forever, the question does death define us is basically nonsense to ask. However, there are oppositions to my argument under different concepts of us. First of all, when us is defined as individuals of human beings, one could argue that death is the only reason that motivates everyone to work, to live and to progress. For instance, during high school, students will enjoy their life as much as they can, because eventually it will end; or they will study as hard as they can, because eventually theyll need to get into university. In university, students will do the same, except the purpose to study is to get a decent career.During ones career, they will saying that everything we do is defined by the fact that we will eventually die, thus we should do everything we need before its too late. Admittedly, I agree with the fact that death can motivate us to some extent. However, is it the case that everything we do is defined by the fact that we will eventually die? Say I will eat an ice-cream today aftershock; am I thinking if I miss this ice-cream, I will regret when I die? Normally people dont think that way. Such insignificant things we do all the time are not considered to be defined by death, because without those things, the effect is negligible.Secondly, back to my argument for first definition o f us, everyone is doing different things during their lifetime even those things are all motivated by death. But death is same for everyone, it is universal. Thus why an universal property can motivate or cause different behaviors and actions for different people? In reality, people pursue different career, do different things and behave differently. Then hats the cause for all of those differences? Is the answer death? Unlikely because death is same for everyone; it cannot be the reason or explanation for all of the differences between individuals.Based on the definition of define, the combination of properties that distinguish one individual from another is not solely death since there has to be some other characteristics or properties that can determine a person other than death. Thus death cannot define us; it is a part of the combination of properties at most. Another opposition is by saying that life is only a small tiny bit of peoples entire existence; it is in death that they will be infinite and either go to heaven or hell for instance. Thus death is essential and defines us for o ur after life, which is infinite compare to lifetime. However, after death, people will not be the same, either they will be rewarded or punished according to most religions. But what causes these differences, namely reward and punishment? The action of death does not determine that, its only a starting point where you will be Judged. But Judgment itself is determined by peoples behaviors during lifetime for most religions. Death is essential here because it is when people will be Judged; but since death is neither the combination of properties nor the only unique property to determine individuals afterlife, it cannot define us based on definition of define. For second and third definition of us, there are no strong counter arguments since all counter arguments are based on the fact that we will die eventually. But if human beings alone (for second definition of us) or all species on earth (for third definition of us) can live forever by advanced technology which is possible, then the question whether death can define us or not immediate ly becomes meaningless, since there will be no death at all. And the problem of individuality can be avoided in these two situations because us is defined as a group of people or species. For second definition of us, people will be the same if time is infinite, but they are still people; they will never have experiences to be animals. Human beings have the power and technology to make human beings immortal, but not the animals. Thus the consequence is that people will never die, but all other species will. Therefore, death can potentially define all other species on earth, but not human beings, which is against the second definition of us.For third definition, all living things will be immortal, but they are at same time, living forever. Thus they will be distinctive from species will die and the question whether death can define us or not is nonsense. Whereas for first definition of us this argument wont work because of the problem of individuality; people will be assimilated through time since they will eventually have same experience. In conclusion, death cannot define us no matter which definition of us we adopt. There are no strong counter arguments that can defeat arguments which Justify that death cannot define us under one or more definition of us. However, there could be other potential arguments that are stronger as opposition by changing the definition of define for instance. But within this essay, the overall strength of arguments for death cannot define us is much stronger than arguments against it. Thus the answer death cannot define us to the original question is a more reasonable and convincing conclusion here.

Entity-Relationship and Relational Database
Question: Describe about Entity Relationship Diagram,Relational Model and Dependency diagrams and Normalization? Answer: Entity Relationship Diagram The ER diagram is, The assumptions and relationship cardinalities etc. are listed below, 1. There is many to many relationship between SERVICE and CLIENT entity sets. Each client can have at least one service and a service can be offered to at least one client. A relationship set SERVICE_CLIENT represents the many to many relationship. It has a composite key consisting of the primary keys from participating entity sets. 2. There is many to many relationship between SECTOR and CLIENT entity sets. Each client can have zero or more sectors and a sector can have at least one client. A relationship set SECTOR_CLIENT represents the many to many relationship. It has a composite key consisting of the primary keys from participating entity sets. 3. There is one to many relationship between SERVICE and SERVICE_TYPE. The primary key from SERVICE is added to SERVICE_TYPE as a foreign key. 4. There is many to many ternary relationship among SERVICE_TYPE, CLIENT and EMPLOYEE. The relationship set BILL represents that. BILL has composite primary key having primary keys from participating entities and another attribute called date. 5. There is one to many relationship between EMPLOYEE and PAYMENT. The primary key of EMPLOYEE is added to PAYMENT as foreign key. 6. There is one to many relationship between EMPLOYEE_TYPE and EMPLOYEE. The primary key of EMPLOYEE_TYPE is added to EMPLOYEE as foreign key. 7. There is many to many relationship between EMPLOYEE and EXPERTISE entity sets. Each employee can have at least one expertise and an expertise can have at least one employee. A relationship set EMPLOYEE_EXPERTISE represents the many to many relationship. It has a composite key consisting of the primary keys from participating entity sets. 8. There is many to many relationship between EMPLOYEE and QUALIFICATION entity sets. Each employee can have at least one qualification and a qualification can have at least one employee. A relationship set QUALIFICATION_EMPLOYEE represents the many to many relationship. It has a composite key consisting of the primary keys from participating entity sets. 9. There is a role of AuditAdvisor that is a one to many relationship from EMPLOYEE to EMPLOYEE. A foreign key AuditAdvisor has been added in the EMPLOYEE to represent that. 10. There is one to many relationship between STRUCTURE and CLIENT. The primary key from STRUCTURE is added to CLIENT to represent the relationship. Relational Model The relational model shown the relational schema and data types for the relations developed from the ERD. 1. CLIENT (ClientNumber(INT), FirstName (VARCHAR(45)), LastName(VARCHAR(45)), Address(VARCHAR(255)), City(VARCHAR(45)), State(VARCHAR(45)), PostCode(VARCHAR(4)), ContactName(VARCHAR(45)), ABN(VARCHAR(11)), TFN(VARCHAR(9)), StructureType(INT)) 2. BILL (Date(DATE), ClientNumber(INT), EmployeeNumber(INT), TypeCode(INT), ServiceCode(INT), Charge(INT)) Dependency diagrams and Normalization 1. CLIENT relation has the following dependency diagram. The relation is in 1NF as all attributes has atomic values. There is only one primary key, so the relation is trivially in 2NF. There is transitive dependency from non-key attribute to key attribute. So the relation is not in 3NF. 2. SECTOR relation has the following dependency diagram. The relation is in 1NF as all attributes has atomic values. There is only one primary key, so the relation is trivially in 2NF. There is only one non trivial functional dependency and the left hand side is the super key. So the relation is in 3NF. 3. SERVICE relation has the following dependency diagram. The relation is in 1NF as all attributes has atomic values. There is only one primary key, so the relation is trivially in 2NF. There is only one non trivial functional dependency and the left hand side is the super key. So the relation is in 3NF. 4. TYPE_SERVICE relation has the following dependency diagram. The relation is in 1NF as all attributes has atomic values. There is only one primary key, so the relation is trivially in 2NF. There is no transitive dependency in the relation. So, this is in 3NF. 5. SECTOR_ CLIENT is in 1NF as all attributes has atomic values. Now it is trivially in 3NF, as it has only one composite attribute and no other attribute. 6. SERVICE_CLIENT is in 1NF as all attributes has atomic values. Now it is trivially in 3NF, as it has only one composite attribute and no other attribute. 7. STRUCTURE relation has the following dependency diagram. The relation is in 1NF as all attributes has atomic values. There is only one primary key, so the relation is trivially in 2NF. There is only one non trivial functional dependency and the left hand side is the super key. So the relation is in 3NF. 8. EMPLOYEE relation has the following dependency diagram. The relation is in 1NF as all attributes has atomic values. There is no partial or transitive dependency so the relation is in 2NF and 3NF respectively. 9. EMPLOYEE_TYPE relation has the following dependency diagram. The relation is in 1NF as all attributes has atomic values. There is only one primary key, so the relation is trivially in 2NF. There is only one non trivial functional dependency and the left hand side is the super key. So the relation is in 3NF. 10. PAYMENT relation has the following dependency diagram. The relation is in 1NF as all attributes has atomic values. There is no partial or transitive dependency so the relation is in 2NF and 3NF respectively. 11. QUALIFICATION relation has the following dependency diagram. The relation is in 1NF as all attributes has atomic values. There is only one primary key, so the relation is trivially in 2NF. There is only one non trivial functional dependency and the left hand side is the super key. So the relation is in 3NF. 12. EXPERTISE relation has the following dependency diagram. The relation is in 1NF as all attributes has atomic values. There is only one primary key, so the relation is trivially in 2NF. There is only one non trivial functional dependency and the left hand side is the super key. So the relation is in 3NF. 13. EMPLOYEE_ EXPERTISE is in 1NF as all attributes has atomic values. Now it is trivially in 3NF, as it has only one composite attribute and no other attribute. 14. QUALIFICATION_ EMPLOYEE is in 1NF as all attributes has atomic values. Now it is trivially in 3NF, as it has only one composite attribute and no other attribute. 15. BILL relation has the following dependency diagram. Was the Industrial Revolution Good or Bad for Society free essay sample
Was The Industrial Revolution Good or Bad For Society. In my opinion I think this was the best thing that happened to Europe. Where do you really think England would be if the country did not Revolve? It would most likely be a third world country with out it. England was blessed with good harbors, natural resources, and a favorable climate. Who wouldnt take this opportunity to try and make the country a better place to live? I know I sure would.Of course at the start of the industrial revolution would be hard. If you heard change people always think of the immediate changes, but never think of the changes down the road. The most significant changes that happened in the revolution was better food, shelter, and clothing. The best thing was that, the clothing was available at lower prices so the lower class actually could afford to buy it. So this in turned made the living conditions for the average person greatly improved. This worked just like a domino affect. As the living conditions in the country improved, the cities became larger due to better public sanitation and public safety. Another turn for the better was the creation of the new form of Business, known as Corporations. This meant that the public would be able to buy shares from this organization. This benefit to the public because then they could also get rich rather than just one person. Then there is the problem with three classes. Personally, I think its not fair to the citizens. The industrial revolution made it possible for the second class to gain position in society, not by birth but by wealth This possibly opened doors for the Third Class, so they can have social status. One Problem During The Revolution, there was unemployment. This was because of the new inventions that took away from the peoples jobs. I think this is actually good because a machine

Sample of a Dissertation in APA Format With Citation Page
Sample of a Dissertation in APA Format With Citation PageThe most effective way to attract the attention of a potential employer is by providing samples of a dissertation in APA format. Though APA format is an easy way to convey a thesis idea, a few grammatical and spelling errors can still mislead an employer. Keeping in mind that, one must make sure that the samples provide clarity of content and should not contain misspellings.First of all, the following should be noted: the APA format is that of an organization that is used by students at Harvard or Princeton universities. The practice of declaring that a student has written a doctoral dissertation has been traced back to Oxford University where a student named John Milton, who was studying at Cambridge University, declared a thesis on the idea of the Universal Idea of the Good. When he was asked to put down his opinion on why this idea was very good, he instead wrote a dissertation called 'Man the Best in the World' which argued that the best man is a king. Thereafter, the thesis took the name of a university degree. So, when you are writing a sample of a dissertation in APA format with citation page, it is advisable to put down the title of the PhD dissertation and then all that should be added to it is the section or subsection on why the thesis is of high quality. The first paragraph should be concise and clear as most employers want to know the objective of the job and the consequences of going for it. The second paragraph should be short and to the point, while the third paragraph should be very brief and to the point. The sample should have all the information of the Ph.D program that should be listed down in a written report (which should be under three pages), including the date of the start of the Ph.D program, the date of the conclusion of the program, the number of papers of the entire program, and the number of theses submitted by the students. One can also include the number of interviews that h ave taken place and some other details as well.It is also important to note that the theses should be arranged in a chronological order, so that the starting of the program from the midpoint should be mentioned. The author should also inform the reader of the number of theses, beginning from the initial to the last.Next, it is necessary to add the information about the advisor who should have given the sample of a dissertation in APA format with citation page. In addition, the bio of the author and the personal details of the supervisor should also be given. In addition, if the advisor has provided the sample of a dissertation in APA format with citation page, the names of two referees should also be mentioned. The second important aspect is that the sample of a dissertation in APA format with citation page should have all the information listed down in the body paragraph of the document. So, the first paragraph should first inform the reader about the title of the program that the P hD student is in, the semester that the student has spent in the program, the name of the person who gave the dissertation to the student, the name of the person who supervised the student, the graduation date of the student, the name of the program, and the author's contact details. After this, the next paragraph should give the details of the advisor who gave the dissertation to the student, the undergraduate instructor who supervised the student, the name of the student, the graduation date, and the author's contact details. The third paragraph should also contain the name of the author who has supervised the student and some other information.Lastly, the author's name, the names of the two referees, and the details of the program, program advisor, and the PhD program should be highlighted. For a better understanding of the form, you may also refer to the link provided below. That is all about samples of a dissertation in APA format with citation page.

KKK
KKK Piloted by the thoughts of a world with only one superior race, the KKK often uses violence and moves over the law to promote their cause. They have been in the darkness for over one hundred and thirty years and continue to increase in America's society today. The Klan began during the reform period after the civil war in the Southern United States. The southern people had suffered greatly from the effects of the war. Many of them lost their homes and plantations. The people needed a release from the sorrow of everyday life.In 1865, six men from a small town in Tennessee began what has grown to be the largest and most feared "hate group" in the country. The men decided to make a club to help release the stress of the times. The men were all poor and could not afford to make gowns or costumes for the group, so they decided to use linens.Cartoon from 1868 ("'Tis but a change of banners -...They wore the linens and put pillowcases on their heads. They also draped the linen over the horse s they rode. In the beginning, the men wanted to do nothing more than play pranks on people. The Klan members soon realized what they could do with the fear tactics they placed on the towns-people.Word spread across the South about these masked men. Many people loved the idea and wanted to be involved; the Klan quickly grew. A leader was soon needed to control the large group. Their first choice was Southern General Robert E. Lee; he became very ill and could not continue the position. Their next choice was a man named Nathan Bedford Forrest. (www. KuKluxKlan.org/history2.html) Forrest, although he was not as well known as General Lee, was seen as a good leader. He was born in Mississippi and...

Exercises Week 2 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Exercises Week 2 - Essay Example Hence this will be the preferred investment, as the return is substantial and the risk is the lowest. c. If Sharon were risk ââ¬â seeking, she would prefer the investment with the highest risk, unless a higher return is promised for a lower risk rate. In this case, investment X has a higher return for a lower risk. Also, investment Y has a return of 12%, same as that of the current return. Investment Y will also be preferred due to the risk seeking attitude. d. Based on the traditional risk preference behaviour exhibited by financial managers, the most preferred investment would be investment X. The main reason is that it has the lowest risk per unit of return (7%/14%) of 0.5 which is the same as that of the current investments of the firm. It is evident that the most likely values for both the options are the same. However, the worst case scenario for expansion A is a 16 % return whereas that of Expansion B is 10 %. Also, the return for expansion A lies within + 4 % of the most likely return of 20 %, whereas it is +8 % for expansion B. Hence the less risky project is Expansion A. c. If given the choice, I would prefer to take up the Expansion A, as it has lesser risk and the most likely return is the same as that of the high risk Expansion B. This certainly implies that I have a risk - averse behaviour. d. If the most likely outcome is 21% for expansion B, I would still prefer to opt for expansion A. the main reason is that the risk associated with expansion A is much lesser and the pessimistic outcome is very close to the most likely outcome. d. The expected return is the highest at 17.5 % for the portfolio 1 containing 100% of asset F compared to that of the other two alternatives. It is also evident that the three investment portfolios have the same risk associated with the returns. The coefficient of variation (return per unit of risk) is also higher for portfolio 1. Hence it is clear that

Computer Ethics-Cyberbullying Thesis Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Computer Ethics-Cyberbullying - Thesis Example It is defined as ââ¬Å"the use of information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group, that is intended to harm othersâ⬠(Owens, 2010). Cyber bullying involves using technology, such as cell phones and the Internet, to harass another person. Cyberbullying is more dangerous than traditional bullying for the following reasons: (1) it is location independent; (2) it offers the ability to bully without a face-to-face confrontation (Meech, 2007); (3) it is difficult to trace or discover because of problems in identification; (4) it can be rapidly scaled to a large audience in a short time; and (5) there are neither codes of conduct nor procedures currently in place to deal with it (Owens, 2010). Cyberbullying is more unethical because as the world evolves, technology has become pervasive and a key component of our continued existence as a cohesive society. It is difficult to envision lives being lived without cyber-interaction especially among the youth. It is therefore vital for people to practice respect of each other in the virtual community just as much as in the physical world. Cyberbullying breaks this communal respect that is being nurtured online. Todayââ¬â¢s youth need to be taught that even when no one can see what they are doing online, their actions affect other people. Furthermore, even if they canââ¬â¢t see those results, they need to know that the consequences are not only present and real but can also be catastrophic. A good example of cyber-bullying is the Amanda Marcuson case (Harmon, 2004). Amanda, a new eighth-grade student, reported her classmates for stealing her pencil case. But at the end of the day when she went home, the girls that she had reported begun sending her insulting instant messages on her home computer. Amandaââ¬â¢s mother took her away from the computer to watch a basketball game with the rest of
